What RAM does my Laptop take??

My dad bought a laptop second hand not so long ago. It was an unknown make to me (but thats no surprise!), Gericom. now he'd like to upgrade the RAM as currently it has 256RAM. Problem is we don't know what type it takes.

Now I have already tried the manufactures website, no help there. (Mostly in German). I downloaded the crucial "what RAM does my pooter take" software but again no luck there.

Anyway on screen that I can find out what RAM it takes? Win98SE is the OS and it's a P3 650 if that makes any difference.

Download that. It will tell you everything you need to know about your RAM.

If its a P3 650 chances are it takes PC100 SO-DIMMs, pick them up cheap on most computer sites.

Ok so I tried those programs above and what I've found out is that the laptop takes Pc100 SDRAM. Also the CPU-Z program seemed to say that there were 6 slots! Two with 128mb, two with 2mb and two empty slots. Surely that's too many memory slots?With regard to the type Pc100 does that mean only Pc100 SDRAM will work and Pc133 will not?

Find out the make & model of the Mainboard using the utilities the guys have mentioned above.
Then go to the manufacturers website and check the specs on the type of board you have.
