I need to train properly and keep track of my progress so I’d like to get my hands on some calipers and a HR monitor. Cheap is the word here people, nothing fancy:)

    Any recommendations?

Any Polar HR monitor. Depends on what you want to do with it.

Caliper.. World Gym ( I think the name is ) after liffey just after O'Connel bridge, have a caliper and mayo tape for €30.

I bought an Oregon Scientific Heart Rate Monitor Smart Trainer HR 308 in Arnotts last week for Eur70, best piece of kit I've bought in a long time.

I'd certainly recommend it if you're doing any type of fitness training. Found a massive difference in being able to pace myself when running long distances and also for doing sprint training. Gives a real indicator of how fit you are in that you can monitor how long it takes you to go back to normal heart rate after training.

As for calipers, I have a set but I fiind to get an accurate estimate you need to use the seven site measurement.

Buy the caliper from this site

Calipers: Accu-Measure. You can get them cheap on ebay <€10.
Plug your measurements in to this and it'll spit out your bf %
