Maybe for you....social workers don't tend to be looked upon quite so kindly as doctors in the real world!!

they do a great job, fair play to them as they often get some of the toughest jobs to do.

Yeah, I know - I was once visited by two social workers who accused me of child abuse. (I live with a flatmate who is of the same age and there are never kids near my house). They were insistent and had no ID and I told them to feck off or I would call the gardai. If they hadn't left they would have gotten a smack from the big stick I keep behind the door (Good thing I didn't have a shotgun :) ).

The morons got the address wrong - but that does not excuse the illmannered way they engaged me in conversation though.......... It was all cleared up when two other social workers came around to my house politely a few weeks later with decent ID....

But the first two were reported to the gardai and an investigation was started on "fake social workers!"

have to get a car before I get mileage, start work tomorrow week, hope it all goes ok, and I don't get too many tough cases starting off......and as for those social workers, I doubt they were the real deal cos they don't just call to someones house about a child abuse case, there are procedures that have to be followed in such circumstances!!

They actually turned out to be real social workers. I would never entertain them though without real ID. It was funny with hindsight but at the time, they nearly got a stick/tazer/shotgun and the gardai because I was having none of their brusque approach..... The procedure was they received an anonymous letter, (which they refused to show me) and were "investigating". I informed them they were clearly in error and to please leave and not return under any circumstances without proper ID and the presence of a Garda.

would have been a definite solution to unprofessional social workers without legitimate ID and being less than polite to innocent citizens. :)
