Bitrate conversion software

    Hey everybody,

    Anyone know any good FREE bitrate conversion software, music I have downloaded is all different eg 128,192kbps etc I want to have them all the same basically,

    Any help is appreciated,

    CDex, you can get it from www.download.com

    And there's no point in re-encoding 128kbps music upto 192kbps. It'll take up more space, but you'll get no extra quality.

    CDex is freeware.

    You'll get less quality, don't do it unless you want to encode the higher bitrate to a lower bit-rate.

    Generally transcoding == bad.
    As said it's a waste of time converting a lower bitrate mp3 to higher one.

    Re-rip all your cd's using EAC . It's the best bar none for ripping to MP3 and other formats

    Just to hammer it home:
    Each time you encode something in mp3 you loose information. Even encoding something from 128kbps to 128kbps (or higher) can potentially result in a loss of quality.

    If you have a 128kbps mp3 and you want it at 192kbps, you will need to encode it from the original (the CD).
