Most independents will install a sky dish and receiver for you unsubsidised and that will cost you the going rate.

Freesat is what you get now on a FTV card and is not for sale in Ireland, you will have to go via a UK relative/friends address to get one.

Guessed as much, still I may be able to do it, just have to change the dish for a bigger one

That won't do anything at all for you except make the side of your house fall off. You'll need an FTV card that is only available to people with a UK address. So you'll need one of those to get one of those.

I have a couple of addresses that I can use in the UK anyway to get one

The reference to bigger dishes might have something to do with 60cm being the recommended size for Scotland/Ireland with 43cm being sufficent for most of England and Wales
