Nothing beats good old dirt cheap Command Conquer Red Alert Original :)

    I'm serious.

    Save tons of money, too!

I would recommend Medieval total war games or Rome Total war. Sim city 4000 is quite good it is hard to play though if you do get it what ever you do do not take out loans the are hard to payback.

Rome:TW, best RTS there is imo, by a long stretch, just so much playability and the addictiveness of the campaign is rediculous.

RTW or Rise of nations would be my pick . Also art of war is not bad either.

I can remember playing Earth 2100 on the playstation, not a bad game at all. After a few missions you got to design your own tanks, infantry and so on by combining weapons and chassis..pretty cool.

I'm more intrested in the multiplayer humanVhuman side and while designing your own stuff is handy it usually results it one or two very good builds, build anything else and your dead. Did not know about this feature, i'll see what happens when it comes out.

Second that myself, I just started playing it again the other day, ahh the memories. In fact C&C, C&C RA, C&C Tib sun and C&C RA2 are all worth a look all are addictive and enjoyable.

Also take a look at Starcraft and its expansion pack Brood War by Blizzard entertainment, its RA2 years before its time. 3 Factions 40 normal missions, about 200 skirmish games and online too.

Thats not a good strategy game. Its not even a great strategy game. It is *the* benchmark of what a stragegy game should be. Buy it. You will not be dissapointed.

Was that Warzone 2100 by any chance where you were running around some post apocalyptic north america capturing Oil derricks and building, as you said, new units you designed yourself?

I played it years ago so I apologise If I got my facts wrong. But I can remember playing a game like that, as you said it probably was Warzone 2100, sorry about the mix up.

Warzone 2100 is a pretty damn fine game, however the main problem with it was base defence's were simply unstoppable. However the campaign is very good in it, and the skirmish games can get very addictive (considering they can take upwards of 6 hours to finish at times in 1v1's at a LAN if your both awful :D).
