Old PC cases with new motherboard?

I'm just interested, are old PC cases (1999 ish) able to hold any of the new motherboards? or is it completely impossible? any way to check without trying to fit one in?

Measure the distances from the mounting holes, trace it out on paper, and lay it down over a current mobo? See if the holes match up?

As long as the form factor is the same you just have to change the PSU

If it's ATX, you can put any current mobo into it.
