    Default Spanking New Press Release!
    Be Wide.....Here come's The Shades....!!!

On Friday the 24th of June The Shades release their spanking brand new 4
track EP "Snapped Elastic" on Cork's newest imprint, Rok Records.

In order to celebrate this fact the boys have decided to have a
bash. The Shades play the Spiegletent on Kyrl's Quay in Cork City on the
same date. Joining them for the festivities are another fine Cork ensemble REST; sonic experimentalists in minimalism and musical mayhem.

Your host for the evening is RedFM's very own Colm O'Sullivan. Not only will you get to listen to the said fellows dulcid tones but also you'll get to flavour some of the musical smorgasbord that makes his own show such essential audio candy.

Snapped Elastic has to be surely The Shades finest hour (well
actually 18 mins). More big band than beatbox, with bits of
Bacharach, hints of the Blue Nile and even Spectoresque like soundscapes, the Shades sound has grown and matured like a fine Chianti. Atmospheric and lyrically lush, the 9 piece will be joined in the Spiegletent by a string
quartet to truly represent the EPs big and brassy sound.

So if any of you lovely people wish to attend this jamboree get yourselves along with pace right now to the offices of the MidSummer festival on the newly (non-road worked) Pana side of the Grand Parade-after all, tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours before the unique bash takes place!
