Who do you see as the strongest teams in the group of qualifers ?
do any of them have the ability to go anywhere ?
Donegal (I presume) and Westmeath will not be wanted by anyone else
also monaghan, fermanagh and Meath could cause problems..

The Live draws for the first round of the Bank of Ireland football championship and Guinness Hurling championship qualifiers will take place on RTE television this Sunday evening immediately after the Guinness Leinster Hurling semi-final between Kiilkenny and Offaly.

Offaly and Meath from Leinster. Westmeath won't do anything this year imo.
All the ulster teams bar Antrim will be tough. It's hard to know what Sligo is like.

I think the standard of football is coming closer and closer as most teams are now preparing themselves in much the same way as the others. As a result there are very few teams that are going to be seen as a walkover. Even London fairly rattled Roscommon the other week! What's next Dublin winning Leinster or Kilkenny fielding a competitive team! ;)

I think Sligo is not going to do anything this year ( London would fancy a pop at them)

Why aren't New York in the qualifiers draw? Didn't they play against Galway in the Connaught SFC?

    As for the hurling

    Nightmare group

    Waterford
    Galway
    Clare
    Laois

    Easy group
    Limerick
    Offaly
    Dublin
    Antrim

*yes I know I'm getting ahead of meself saying Laois and Offaly will be in the qualifiers

    Ideal Group:

    Laois
    Offaly
    Antrim
    Limerick

and it'd be All Ireland Quarter Finals for Laois!

But of course we'll be playing KK on July 3 :D:D:D

He's being realistic, cause Dublin cant be in the same goup as Laois as they have already played in this years championship.

Laois will be in the Leinster Final after a score of Laois 3-14 Wexford 0-15

    I'll get my coat :D

Here is alink to explain the procedures for each of the draws:

    http://www.gaa.ie/plugins/newsfeed.cgi?rm=content&plugin_data_id=6908

A few interesting points to note about both draws, in the football
    - Games between teams who have already met in the Championship will not be permitted (Louth v Offaly and Armagh v Fermanagh - if Armagh are beaten on Sunday)
-Counties in the draw designated for home status will be: Sligo, Wicklow, Carlow, Louth, Longford, Waterford, Tipperary, Antrim and Monaghan

    In relation to the hurling
-Dublin, Laois and Antrim are entitled to two home games out of three in their respective groups. Therefore, and in order to facilitate this, all three teams cannot be in the same group
-Laois and Dublin have already met in the Leinster Championship and will be kept apart for the next phase of the championship (should Laois be in Sunday's draw)
-All three Munster and all three Leinster teams will not be in the same group as each other (i.e. one of Waterford, Clare and Limerick will be in a different group to the other two and likewise for the Leinster counties)

I think Donegal (maybe I'm jumping to a few conclusions there), Down and Offaly have the ability to go far.

Fermanagh and Westmeath could to but both need to bounce back after disappointing losses.

New York won't come to play as nobody will foot their bill - that and the fact that many of their players might be working illegally in the US of A...

I don't think there would be much point, other than the holiday, in them coming.

    The title is very deceiving.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

The title should definitely be changed. More people are interested in it than the actual topic.

Pity New York couldn't make the trip over but they would just be cannon fodder for some team.
