I'm looking to get my hands on a decent firm double bed mattress. Anybody know anywhere to look for good mattresses at a good price?

I priced around loads of different places for Mattresses recently and the likes of Des Kelly/Bargaintown etc were really expensive....actually found Argos to be one of the cheapest/very good quality and free delivery too.

Apart from that you could try Capel street loads of shops doing Mattresses there.

Your best waiting and getting the best matress you can.
Personally I think the memory contour matress is one of the best and will do you 10 years or so. Its made of latex and you can get half and half (half spring and half latex). I know silentnight do one but there is another one I'm waiting to come in - cant remember the company name except it begins with K.... could be kaysen or something. Its 929(haggled down from 1300) for a kingsize.

The shop is 'Comfort' in Ballybrack village and is very good customer service.

You should get one of those down and dirty mattresses that can survive years of abuse of the jumping up and down type... They had them in that toys for big boys expo thing...

Oderest do an excellant mattress around that price, €289 for an Elba double mattress, its very firm but comfortable.

Or else the Odearest Casablana it costs €299 but has a pillowtop or if you went a litttle higher a Respa Backcare mattress is a excellant value for money mattress.

A word of warning, Mattress in the Argos catalogue all look the same but the quality of a mattress is in the strenght of the spring unit and the type of cloth and fillings in the mattress. But for €300 you would get a decent mattress.
