Exploding Wireless Intellimouse !!

Not sure if anyone has had a similar experience, but I was using my wireless IM this afternoon when the thing jumped up off of the table against the palm of my hand with a bang that scared the hell out of me.

On investigation, it look as though one of the batteries has exploded in it (it had been giving warnings that the batteries were running low). It takes normal AA batteries & as far as I know, should'nt place any charge against the batteries themselves (like a recharging unit would).

Is this a freak battery blow out, or has anyone has anything similar happen ????

Were you using decent batteries at the time?
    Did it damage the mouse?

Sounds like it's probably a dead short (or close to it) to me... try another set of batteries and watch them to see if they start getting warm. If so, take them out straight away and check your warranty situation...

I nearly fell on the floor when I saw that headline "Exploding Wireless Intellimouse !!" , sounded like the tech version of itchy and scratchy.

Sorry but you have to see the funny side.

If printers can eat hands (has happened to yours truly on many occasions), why can't mice fly in the air?

Pucker Duracell batteries ! - it's never given me problems before, although I've always changed them at the first 'battery low' sign.
