Heh heh, I was only looking at this on challenge yesterday.
Ah I remember this back in the day, class, class show.
Remember watching this before gamemaster came on on saturday mornings on S4C (If I remember correctly).
Only liked the baldy presenter guy on it though - the newer fella annoyed me.

also all the contestants must have been screened before hand as the show featured the most amazing bunch of brain dead gits whose stupidity knew no bounds..

also most of the women (not being sexist here) just seemed to crack and starts screaming "I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!" and almost break into tears when theres even half a chance of them getting locked in..

still though, tis a quality show

Original presenter all the way, remember watching it on C4 in the UK when I was over for a 2 month stint with family. Ahh the memories.

Yeah Richard O Brien, slightly bonkers (he thought up the Rocky Horror Show!). He'd go and see 'mammy' in the medievil zone. Hated the Industrial Zone. When people got locked in there I used to think it was forever!

I just wanted to go into the Crystal Dome and get all the gold tickets! And go up in a Hot Air Balloon! The contestants hardly ever won their prizes!!

love it even after all those years! :)

Yeah Richard O'Brien's harmonica playing and general off the wallness made it good TV :)

That was the great thing about that show, you could accumulate the highest number of "gold tickets" and not win a thing!
The team won their own choice of prize which was nice.
I played "the crystal maze" in Blackpool some years ago which was based on the show and some of the games were the exact same. It was a panic running round trying to get the "gold tickets" and failing miserably!

Yeah, the number of silver tickets would be deducted from your gold number. I think some contestants never got that and would end up collecting more silver than gold!

    ROFL!

Forgot about the silver/gold ticket thing!
That was genius on their part. Aztec looked pretty funky.
    What were the zones again?
    Aztec, Industrial, Medieval ??
And I wonder where they locked in or just brought aside and off the set....

    "Noo ... its an automatic lock-in" :(

"START THE FANS PLEASE" great show, awful state of hair cuts and very large milk bottle glasses though :) "Mumsie" was actually in one episode, she was giving a clue to one of the contestants.
Funny when they got automatically locked in, looks on their faces, they thought they might never get out!

I think there were Ocean and Futuristic zones as well.

It was a great show alright. What was everyone's favourite type of game? I liked the ones where they had to run around the room solving clues to find the location of a crystal (usually in a coat pocket or a drawer). What were the choices again? Physical, mental, skill and mystery I think.

Yup I would have to agree Richard O'Brien was nothing but genius.

Brilliant programme, was definitely my favourite show on at the time. Totally forgot about Ed Tudor-Pole until people mentioned him here, for me the programme will always be Richard O'Brien's.

Franky Boy, whaddya mean "God rest his soul"? He's still alive, to the best of my knowledge.

    Some interesting facts here

    http://imdb.com/title/tt0098774/trivia

    From IMDB.COM

The highest number of gold tokens collected was 210 and the highest number of silver tokens collected was 275, (both in the same episode so the team didn't win).

    ..the poor feckers!!! lmao :D

The teams had to film the dome sequence twice, once for real, the other showing them jumping around like idiots for the cameras. Even though the fans were blowing the tokens in the air, most still stayed on the ground at the edges, so most of the time the team just stayed on their knees collecting them. This didn't look very exciting on camera, so this part of the show had to be filmed twice, to make it look like the teams were doing something.

Well thats an interesting one. I always wondered why they seemed to worry more about the airborne tokens than the easy ones on the ground ....

When someone got locked in and when they got to the dome the decision to give up a crystal to release the team mate ?

Richard O Brien: "You can give up one of your crystals to release Sam from the industrial zone."
    Team: "Em Em .... Uhhh"
Richard O Brien: "Remember this will mean you will have five seconds less in the crystal dome"
Team: "Ah bollox that then. If she was any use to us she wouldnt have got locked in in the first place, thick b!tch"
