Celtic Whiskey Shop on Dawson Street in Dublin sell both Absinthe and Crown Royal. They don't always have Absinthe in stock though - might be worth calling them first if you're making a special trip.

There's an offie in Stoney Batter that should sell it, I think its called the 'Drink Store' or something like that

This came up on boards recently, so try searching the archives (spelling absinthe right might help).

Absinthe originally comes - if I remember correctly - from Switzerland. The ban on making & selling it here (in Switz) was only lifted earlier this year. Prior to that, the vast, vast majority of absinthe for the European market at least was made in France.

I'm surprised its in any way difficult to find any more, to tell the truth.

Personally, I don't rate it that highly as a drink...although its a fabulous ingredient in cooking :)

Absinthe was available in tescos a while back. Overpriced gut-rot IMO. Of course "it gets you hammered" but if you get a decent liquer it works out cheaper and you will be able to "get hammered" quicker because although some absinthes are twice the strength of some spirits you can drink a decent spirit more than twice as fast as that muck.

Praytell more - I've a few bottles of Absinthe lying around that I can't face to drink, so a few cooking suggestions would be fascinating.

Couldn't agree more really overhyped crap :(

Dawson Street runs parallel to Grafton Street near St Stephen's Green. If you stand at the Stephen's Green shopping centre and ask for directions, anyone should be able to show you the way.

EUR50/bottle is a good bet for either drink, though you might be able to find the exact price on their website (not sure if it lists everything they sell though)

A colleague was talking about drinking absinthe in a pub on the north quays... I'll ask tomorrow and get back to ya. Better to do a shot and see the effect before you buy a €50 bottle, eh?

I have two bottle of Absinthe here. It's horrendous. It makes me sick.

Why the **** would you want to drink this piss? It's just not worth it. I can think of lots of nice things which make you feel nice and don't make you sick...

Thread locked. Those of you who want to drink Absinthe because it gets you hammered, read the charter. It won't get you drunk, but it might enlighten you as to WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR.

Largewang, with the hilarious username and the reassuring 6-post-count-history, I suggest you try standup comedy if you want to try and amuse people with your thigh-slapping one-liners.
