You know the difference between the left alt and right alt keys?

Anyone know Wwy does the right alt key have "Alt Gr" and the left just "Alt"? The other day I was using a utility on a us laptop that treated both keys the same and didn't have the "Gr" on the right alt key. The irish laptop printed a control key character instead. I tried changing the regional settings for the keyboard to US to see if that was why but still no change! Wow what is this about?

    One thing though... try alt-gr + 4 = € character... it's the only useful thing I notice.

"The ALT GR key is on the right side of the keyboard on some non-U.S. keyboard layouts. ALT GR is equivalent to the CTRL+ALT key combination, and you can use it with other keys to enter additional characters as shown in the following list of keyboard languages. Microsoft Word can differentiate between the left and right ALT keys so that you can use CTRL+ALT and ALT GR key combinations."

It says it's equivalent to Ctrl+Alt but you can't do Alt Gr+Del to get the task manager.

    Yeah, it's about 12cm

Set your keyboard to Irish for both language and layout then look at this.

Well... that's one way of looking at it isn't it. I wanted to treat Alt Gr like the other Alt.
