This is getting nerdy, but I just saw the "Wang" thread which had me thinking...
I have a full set of Windows 3.0 , and 3.11 disks that work and Dos 5 here. Worse I backed it up ont cdr.

I remember one night at work for the nerdy crack, loading it onto my mates pc using a spare hard drive and instead of his super fast Windows 95SE it booted with w3.0. Man he was freaked.

    Nerdy, on verge of sick.

Anyone else have useless disks lying around?

Yeah, I've got a whole bunch of disks going back to the days of DOS and Windows 3.1. I refuse to throw them out. A couple of years ago, actually, a friend of mine somehow managed to come across an old 386 and I put DOS and Windows 3.1 on it for him. Boy did that bring back some memories........ like sitting there waiting to swap disks constantly as you installed the OS's! :D

I wouldn't call it, nerdy, telecinesk. Well, maybe slightly. ;) But, like me, embrace your nerdiness and be proud of it, I say! Hold your head up high and shout it out to the whole world, "I'M A NERD AND PROUD OF IT!" :D

For some reason now, I have a sudden urge to pull out one of the many old PC's I have tucked away, set it up and install Windows 3.1 on it for nostalgia's sake.

Actually, you know what's really sad? Even though there's emulators and game ROMs for old computers that you can download and play on your modern day PC (I have a lot of them myself, actually)......... I still have my old Amstrad CPC 464 and all the games and software for it. I refuse to let go of it. And do you know what's even sadder than that? Every now and then I get it out, set it up, and spend a few hours playing with it. Now that's real sad nerdiness for you! :D

I suppose I do it, not just for nostalgia's sake, but also to remind me to be thankful for how fast games load nowadays. I know we've all often come across a PC or PS2 game that seems to take ages to load but, when you compare that to loading a game off tape, modern games still load in a blink of an eye in comparison. Funny to hear my brother sitting at his PS2 sometimes going, "Come on, will ye ever finish loading", after waiting maybe just 30 seconds. I have to remind him that in my day (oh God, I sound like a right old fart now! :D ) we'd often be waiting up to half an hour or more to load just one level of a game, and even then often it wouldn't load properly.

Kids these days. So bloody impatient! :D

What scares the S**t out of me is the first computer i used was a TRS80. It was on demo in "Tandy" when it was in Georges St in Dun Laoghaire.
Then owned a Spectrum.. Need I say more.

Ha, XP. Id class it as retro as its fit for the dustbin since its full of holes...
Saw an Oric on ebay with loads of software, anyone out there ever have this yoke.
I have a TRS80 emulator here, its great fun. Roll on 8inch floppy disks...
