where does it say you have trade your old phone Mukki?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 897 ✭✭✭oxygen_old

The vodafone homepage has an ad for the trade in offer. Its a €100 off the price when you trade in your old phone, pretty good considering you could give in any old phone,I know I have about 3 lying around at home. The €199 price is with the €100 off otherwise its €299

Just be aware that the Nokia 6630 takes the new Dual Voltage RSMMC memory cards - currently only available up to 256Mb... just in case you were planning to put your entire music collection on your phone :)

    jayo

if you buy online it seems you dont need to produce an old fone, seems very good for a 1.3 megapixel, they are much more on ebay , seems like a price breakthough I is tempted

The Phone is great but the current firmware restricts a lot of items such as MP3 ringtones etc but otherwise it is cool.

Wolfman would be the guy to debrand it when he gets the new firmware and to unlock (no calcs online yet) you have to top up between €130 and €200 Before they give you the codes methinks the latter is correct I will find out.

Have mine on O2 and it is pretty nice and slick 9/10 :)

I also just put in an enquiry about this phone although it wasn't prompted by their ad campaigns.

Anyone know to what degree Vodafone's firmware has locked down the phone? I assume you're still free to transfer any Symbian software you purchase/download without any hassle?

I availed of this offer over the weekend.
I migrated from O2(SE T630) to Vodafone(6630). The 6630 is amazing. Very happy with it.
However, Im having slight difficulty installing the phone on my XP pc. I downloaded the latest drivers and installed them. When I connect the USB cable to phone then pc, it says 'Found 6630' and loads the install Wizard asking you to Specify a location for the drivers.
\When I cancel that it says that my new hardware may not work properly. This is confusing me cos the latest drivers are installed already. The PC Suite software does not detect the phone. Does the PC Suite software work through both Bluetooth and the cable?

Can anyone shed some light on that for me? Also, where are the best sites to pimp my 6630? What software would ye recommend to download. Linkage if possible.

    Thanks.

512Mb cards for the 6630 now also avail on shop4memorys site: http://www.shop4memory.com/products/dual-voltage-rsmmc.asp - seems these cards are pricy enough tho.

If you've got iTunes, you can get around this. Convert the mp3 to .mp4a and port over to the phone's Sound Clips/Tones directory. Worked for me!

Pretty nifty phone. Got it yesterday and spent too much time playing a perfect little Puzzle Bobble clone that I installed - Vodafone are too tight-fisted to install any actual games, but there's a fair few to be found for free, even on Nokia's own site.

you have to show XP the Drivers. So save them to my documents or something and then direct XP to them, that should work.

Might be a dumb question but can you play n-gage games on this phone? I have heard you can play them on nokia smart phones.

They are pricy enough alright at the moment, but its like any memory cards..... they will be expensive for the first month or two after they arrive on the market (actually, come to think of it, like phones, electronics etc)

Anyway, some people have mailed me and asked me when we are getting them in. We finally have some in stock, but quantities are limited, so grab em before they are gone

i was in the vodafone store in bray yesterday and they said to get this offer eg €100 off a 3g fone they will accept a old charger, they donot even need an old fone,
i think they got some great deals on at the moment and this is because the competiton race has started.:D (o2 Vs Vodafone)

download newer pc suite from nokia.com and all is well, how dumb r nokia 2 ship this not working software with an otherwise impressive fone, great value especially when you sell the video conference accessory on ebay for 30 euros and sell the 80 euros upgrade pack for 50 euros to another rtg user, and the charger for a few euros on ebay.... :)

I was in the carphone warehouse today inquiring about the offer. He advised me to go and buy the phone from vodafone, as they didnt sell the phone with the video call stand and they also need a phone from you to avail of the offer.

Bought the phone from vodafone :D

i want to use the phone there so any sugessions

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,553 ✭✭✭wolfman

6630 and 6680 cannot be unlocked at the moment
Only way to unlock them is by requesting the code from Vodafone and you need to spend approx 130-200 euros on credit before they will give you the code

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 201 ✭✭bazcaz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭digitally-yours

A friend of mine just pointed this cover out to me.

So now all I want is for someone to post or PM me and say, 'hey Loobz, I can get u one of those'. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭digitally-yours

that cover looks crap to me
the phone will b more bulky with that i think
i was looking for a lite cover me self

but i dont know it looks alright without the cover :)

i rang them regarding the unlocking and the rep told me the best way is to go to a shop and get it unlock from there for a tenner

if you will unlock it from us u have to get 129 euros credit
we cant do anything in system before u have used that credit

P.S if you are single the credit is loadz :( 129euros plus 80 euros registeration credit :D
and if you have a GF i believe then its fine coz u normally use that much :D

I disagree. But we all have our opinions. I definitely wouldnt stick a crap fake leather case with optional belt clip (hey everyone, look at me and my phone) on my shiny new 6630. Not a chance. At least that ones see through. I wouldnt say its gonna be too much bulkier than any other case on the market. The screens on 6630's are far from scratch resistant. If someone can prove me wrong, do so by all means. I would like to find a nice thin case that doesnt look crap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭digitally-yours

hey loobz dont take it personally calm down :) yes we both have different opinions. mine one has a screen protector on it so far.as far as i know u can get about 5 screen protectors for 5 quid so that saves the screen

i dont know how long ur planning to use this phones i dont use me phones more than 8 to 10 months :)
il let you know if i find a nice cover :)
