Definitely - but not from Ann Summers, the majority of the stuff is hideous and tacky so if you weren't sure of a girl's taste you could be sleeping on the couch with nothing but the lingerie to keep you warm :D

If you're thinking of buying some for a girl, I'd suggest BT's (it's not much more expensive than anywhere else and has a bigger wow factor if you're trying to impress her), Knickerbox and M&S (I'm not joking!). This way, not only is she getting a nice present but it also looks like you know what girls actually like ;)

Buy her a pair of wonderpants to help her lift that saggy bum from the floor.
Also while i'm here and talking underwear i'd just like to know, are Y-Fronts back in?
Kernel tells me they never went out and he swears by them but i'm not so sure

It's better to get a voucher than pick out stuff yourself, though.

No its not! Its for you to look at so you should buy it, as long as its not eddible you should be fine. Think of her figure and then get her something that compliments it.

WEll, surely everyting in Ann Summers is fairly "sexy"? And you want her to actually wear the thing. You could go shopping together, too.

They're full of dodgy colours and preservatives?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

Well, they do stain the sheets something terrible, but if you can keep it down to less than 2 pairs a week they shouldn't have any major side effects.

Ann Summers is a bit cheap.
You need to spend a few hundred in the likes of BT's or any of the specialist lingerie shops.
Course, then you may experience the same problem I did; spend 500 lids of fantastic stuff which is then "too nice to ever wear more than once a decade"

    damned if you not do.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

    €500 on underwear!

do you wipe your hole with money too!!

i spent €100 on lingerie for the gf in ann summers, and in my opinion, that's not cheap, its a tiny bit of material.

€100 is not cheap, €500 is grosely excessive.

La senza is a great store for underwear......Buy her the underwear just make sure you check her size first......Vouchers are for acquaintances not for lovers......

I think Ann Summers is very expensive, there is nicer sexy lingerie to be bought elsewhere, like BTs or Arnotts! I would try to make sure as much as you can that it's something she will like to wear too not just what you want to see her in.

    getting back on topic here...

yes I think it is a great idea...but thats me, if you know her well enough then you will know if she will like that. If you are not sure then the next best thing is to take her to the store and shop together ;)

Make sure you know her measurements, staff in lingerie sections are usually helpful as to style suggestions but for heavens sake feel the material before you buy it..not kidding some of that stuff might look nice but can feel like sandpaper..so don't feel shy about handling the merchandise

    Oh God, NOOOOOOOO!!
My ex bought me a set of knickers and bra one day as a Christmas pressie...
The worst present in my life! He was very shy when he gave it to me and I remember him teasing for days beforehand about it. The truth is, the thing was absolutely horrible looking, something even my granny wouldnt wear and it was far too large for me!
Needless to say I pretended I liked it very much (as you do when you get a present that you dont like...) and was forced to wear the bloody thing to make him happy.
Until one day I decided that was enough and put it in the washing machine at a far to high temperature so that I'd be sure it would be completely wrecked.

My advice, get her vouchers or even better, go with her to the shop and buy her what she likes!

sure thats a bit selfish isnt it?
I mean as long as it is the right size, why wouldnt you wear what he bought you to please him?
Its lingerie for crapsakes, no one else is going to see it and he is the one you are wearing it for right?
So ya, buy her something you want to see her wear and if she doesnt appreciate it then maybe you are buying for the wrong person.

I mean come on ladies, you have enough lingerie you wear to please yourself, whats wrong with wearing something he took the time to go out and buy for you? It isnt the esiest thing for a man to do ya know, going into a ladies store and buy panties...I mean think about it. ;)

    Fair enough..i had to ask

Penny's finest!! They'll fall apart before she has a chance to get bored of them. And they'll only cost ya €8 for a bra and pants combo. ;)

great for smaller sizes but if you need proper support they're not the best place, knickerbox is great for bigger sizes, la senza isn't bad either

Yeah, but think how ugly it could be - I'm thinking of the crotchless canary-yellow thong displayed in the window of my local sex shop!

Yeah I've found out about Penney's support (or lack thereof) the hard way....

La Senza is really good. You can't knock M&S either.

Dunnes is below Penney's on the underwear scale. I could do better with some pipe cleaners, old curtains and sticky back plastic!

my gf works in ann summers.. very much likes when i buy her stuff.. its best when you go shopping together as she can tell you if she likes it or not and its fun too. think me as wierd if you like but i like shopping for underwear with her. (3 years and still buyin from ann s & le senza) i think 500 is a bit much for underwear, unless for your honeymoon or somethin. 100 to 150 on a nice set of stuff is tolerable.. just!

    Agent Provocateur.

So gorgeous, I'd probably wear it myself. She can have my black Penny's undies.

BT's is great - Agent Provocateur or Love Kyle have ranges that are sexy without being tacky. Shopping together is a better idea.

I must say I am surprised of the amount of ladies here who dont like spontaneous sexy presents from thier mate, I think its great and like I said before...its underwear, no one else will see it.
I think its a control factor, perhaps a woman who is more laid back (lke myself) likes that sort of thing and a woman who wants to be in control of everything doesnt? control freaks vs. down to earth :D think about it,
it makes sense to me anyway ;)
