Hi , I installed AVG tonight because mcafee 12 months up and too broke to purchase

on install it said it detected Roxio Easy CD and that to avoid problems it needed to be updated.

It gave a link, I followed, downloaded and installed
but the update is a NEW program : CDburnerXP 3

    is that not strange???

as a separate problem, for pastr few days getting error message on start up, something like
Generic HOst Process for WIn32........has encountered serious error
will try screenshot of msg next time but any ideas????

The AVG thing sounds like a built in sales gimmick

What is the exact Generic Host Process error?

The devil that is roxio has taken control of your Pc and brought it to the depths of hell, uninstall and never let it darken your doorstep again, it's the worst cd burning software out there bar none

I have Roxio at work and I hate it. Nero is obviously the best. CDburnerXP is free BTW. Personally I like AVG, I've never had any problems with it. What more do you need from a AV package.

amny explanations? i dunno what it even means
and i know CDburnerXP is free, i just dont ge why AVG directed me to download it as a "roxio update"

now winpatrol is asking do i want to let this start up:
    %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0-u

dunno what what that is either

I was pointing out to odie that it was free.
Since both apps are free how is it a sales gimick?

Why don't you ask AVG why when it finds a dire piece of payware does it suggest you upgrade to a piece of freeware. CDburnerXP gets good reviews but I found it to be lacking in some functionality, and prefer Nero myself.

I don't use winpatrol. But I don't let anything run I don't know. If something breaks, then I know if it was important or not. A 30sec search on google for "%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0-u" seems to suggest it could be a Virus or just a system error. However there seems to as many possible different possibilities. I suggest you do some searching on the web, and see if anything sounds familar.
