You might want to take a read of this:
    http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000980024404/

That explains how to convert down from a DvD or regular video file into the MPEG4 that the PSP uses. You can also use a program called PSP Video9 which will also convert video down and copy them into your PSP.

For the PSP to read video files they must be in MPEG4 format, located in a specific folder on the memory stick and also have an odd filename [which the converts above generate themselves].

Its quite simple to do. It will take some time for you to get the hand of what compression settings you like. Generally I get my movies down to about 400mb but I have mine on a quite decent quality.

One problem Ive found is most of the software is either 29fps or 15fps, however DvD's from our Region [2] are 25fps so I'm having to drop down to 15fps video as otherwise (if runnign 29fps on 25fps film) the sound becomes out of sync with the video.
