FreeBSD Init Scripts

Hey all. I've a bit of a problem with a FreeBSD 5.4 server i'm installing at the moment. The builtin rc.d init scripts all work ok, but the ports place scripts into /usr/local/etc/rc.d - for example the one Courier IMAP puts in is courier-imap-imapd.sh . Now a few of these, such as Courier IMAP, Apache 2's one and Samba simply refuse to work. They output no messages whatsoever when called which is what really confuses me. Am i missing something here?

As it happens, the answer is to make sure you enable the service in rc.conf - just in case anyone else was wondering too. Found this just by tooling around!
