since the web-hosting forum is down i hope this is in the right place.
just a quick question re hosting.
ive a free account with lycos uk and will be gettin a .com domain with alwaysamber.ie
just wondering can lycos object to this considering its a free account with them and theres no lycos advertising on the site.

    cheers :):)

Isn't part of the Lycos terms and conditions that you don't avoid their popups and advertising ? I doubt they'll find out, but it would be against the T&C and your hosting could be taken back without notice.

Using hosting like Lycos with a domain seems stupid to me. If you're willing to fork out for a domain then pay E15 for a years basic hosting from someone :)

I don't see any pricing on their site

I'm afraid I've found cheaper. It's actually ieInternet, but go to when you go to http://www.freehosting.ie/ you only pay for the domain. €32 for 1 year, €100 for 10.

I was talking about domain pricing. Not hosting (which I would have to be blind to miss)

    http://hosting.interlogicbmn.com/plans.asp

The basic plan comes with a free .com domain and has slightly more disk space\e-mail accounts etc. and is currently €32 per year (opening offer)

Only big difference is that it's windows based so depends on what kind of scripting language you want to use (if any)

It doesn't matter where you register the domain. If your hosting it with Lycos then they'll still be able to put adverts on your site.
