So todays Star has it that the GAA make face a player interview blackout from this weekends games onward I imagine.

for those not up_to_date_, the GPA have an agreement with C&C for Club_Energise. players get E500 for taking two drinks on cam in interviews.
the GAA have a deal with Coke for BPM.

Apparently RTE have deemed the C_Energize advertising as illegal under EU laws or summet.
[somebody clarify these details for me please? no paper atm]

    whats yer views?

Think the players should have the right to earn a few extra quid. The GAA is always lining its own pockets and forgetting it would have nothing without the players.

Alot of them put their heart and souls into training for little but criticism and having to crawl back into work on a Monday battered and bruised after a hard game the day before.

I think the GAA and the GPA have to start cooperating on this kind of thing, or the players will strike at some stage. Surely signing advertisement agreements that do not clash is not that difficult.

RTE trying to enforce it is laughable though, especially seeing their attitude to the same thing in rugby and the pittence they have contributed to the GAA down the years compared to the advertising monies they got.

It also goes back to the weekend when a few hurlers advertised Paddy Power on their hurleys.

Quite frankly, like I said above, the GAA need to stop worrying about trying to line their pockets so much and allow the players to make a little.

Heard Alan Brogan refused to do an interview on The Sunday Game last week for his man of the match award because of this. Anyone know the full story?

That pretty much is the full story. They got an interview from a different Dublin player instead.
