This isn't the first time I've been propositioned in such a way.

wow, how strange! I am a bassist, and I was born the same day as Suninana. But not the same year.

Ok, its not so strange.

I think 'she' is saying 'she' plays bass and thinks it is sexy and would like to know if there are any 'male' boards posters that play bass and if so will they post a picture of themselves.

I assuming the op is a gimp. Stop me if I'm wrong.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    No, please, carry on.

    Hmmm... pointless Instruments thread #19583

Try bands/musicians if you have something constructive to say about bassists... perhaps

Sorry Suninana, I assumed by your wink that you mean't in a flirty way the person and not the bass. *assumption is the mother of all f!*K ups*

Try this link: http://www.vintaxe.com/instruments_bassguitars.htm ... it should really float your boat.

I don't like pickups that try and "blend in". They should just look like pickups and not try any funny stuff. They're almost as ugly as EMGs. ;)

I really want to try those optical bass pickups at some stage. Can't remember the website where I saw them though. Doc... you remember those, right?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Lightwaves, yeah. Some day I'd like to have a go of these too. They ugly though.

I think they look cool! I see they finally launched the guitar one. Definitely wanna try those out at some stage.

That the side ways pickup? Where the coils are turned 90 degrees from where they normally are?

Ah, so that's the fretless eh? Must try that some time. You never told me you had a Tanglewood

    Yes I did.

    *heartattack* I FOUND A DENT!

In the body of my fretless.

:o Ah, it adds character. Or something...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭bounty_hunter

It adds an unnecessary hole, that's what it adds.

    Terrible picture of Tanglewood.

Dunno about the bass but jesus, that carpet ROCKS!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭bounty_hunter

Ah, you'd like it in "real life". It's unbelievably light (compared to the Fenders anyway, especially the fretless), you can pick it up and swing it around (not that I've done that...)

And that carpet is a ****ing nightmare, everything sticks to it.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Indeed. IRL.

I must take a few pictures of all my gear... Handy to have.

There was a picture of it in a bass at some point that looked really cool. It may have been unfairly aided by lighting or strategically placed LEDs, mind you.

I think I'll have a pair for my Warmoth Bass... whenever I find myself rolling in money.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I know a guy over on the PG forums put them on his bass. I'll go find the link.

    Yoink http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=4373&st=75

    They look very plasticy...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Agreed, they look crap to me, totally ruin the look of that instrument (along with the stumpy headstock too). If I ever need bass pickups again I'll be going to Christoph Dolf... again :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, not a fan of the head on that but the body wood is gorgeous!

Wouldn't mind a nice piezo bridge on a bass though with 2 jazz pickups and a P bass pickup. EMG's of course... A nice 4 string I think.

I like my bass. It is so nice. Just bought Level 42 at the RockPalast. 3 hours of early enough Mark King. Hopefully might even be playing his alembic. I'll give it a watch.

Not a fan of those Alien Ant Farm type nerd-metal basses. Not really a fan of any guitar design post about 1970. Why **** with magic as the man said.

I'd look stupid with a 6 string cause I'm so small. Even a vintage jazz looks incredibley big on me.

Ahhh come on Gary, yer grand, it's not like you're one of the wee folk :D

You should see me playing guitar ;)

The Modulus is bigger than the Jazz Deluxe isn't it?

Wait... that's those optical pickups. I was still talking about the Q-Tuners. I have to agree, that bridge looks like ****.

It kinda feels smaller. A very comfortable play for me. The first fret seems like a mile away though.
