    Hey all

Went to the doc because i had a stinging sensation while i pee, she diagonised me with Non-specific urethritis. Wondering if anyone else ever had this?
She gave me medication and said it should clear up. My girlfriend is going to her doctor tomor and i was wondering if she has same thing or an actual sti?

She also says she has never been with anyone else but me but my last partner was 8 months ago. Is it possible for this to just show up or is she lieng? Supposedly what i have only men can get though?? Any info would be grateful.

    Thanks

Not a medical board. Read stickies. No matter what any of us say, it is not the opinion of a member of the medical profession.

^ short synopsis of what may await you.

It's potentially a non-specific urethritis, which is essentially a urinary tract infection that may or may not be sexually transmitted.

Make sure she washes her cucumbers first or uses condoms.

If it has been caused by your girlfriend having an STD there is a chance she caught it more than 8mnths ago. From my brief reading it appears urethritis can be caused by two STD's gonorrhoea or chlamydia. http://www.stdservices.on.net/std/nsu/ Either of which can have no symtoms in females. Chlamydia especially is known as the silent STD.

So I wouldn't go writing off your girlfriend just yet. And as a side note, when was the last time you and your girlfriend got tested?

    A.

Thanks for the replies, neither of us have ever been tested before. The testing procedure wasnt too bad either. Pitty about having to wait 2 weeks for the results. I was told to ring the doc on thursday and she'd be able to tell me then if it is gonnerra(spell?).

Why cant she give me all the results does anyone know??

You mean give you the results over the phone? If so, then it's possibly because if you have something serious, like HIV, they might want to recommend you for counselling or tell you in person. Hearing something like that over the phone wouldn't really help for your general state of mind. Standard precaution though, well, from my experience, I wouldn't worry :)

It takes a few weeks to grow cultures to test for certain infections you can get a urinary track infection by having un-protected anal sex. There are bacteria in the anal passage that can cause this. Reason why girls should wipe front to back not the other way!

If it stings and you get a clear discharge from your jimmy when its flacid then its either chlamydia or ghonerea. These can be cleared up with antibiotics so stay safe until then :)

NSU isn't always an sti and can often flare up, just by you having a lot of sex recently.

It's like thrush in that respect most of us have the bacteria that causes thrush on our skin and certain things like being on antibiotics can cause it to devlope into an outbreak

    Off Topic
Can't remember if it was TV (mash?) or a book (chickenhawk) but someone pointed out that one of the benefits of being an officer was that only enlisted men got the Clap whereas officers just got Non-specific urethritis.

Look on the bright side, there are a lot worse things can happen to your waterworks like kidney stones. As for the blame game it's a chicken and egg thing as to which came first, eg: yeast problems are probably worse in warm humid weather.
