Repairing a digital camera

Sorry, not sure where to put this post - please move as appropriate

Would anyone know where I could go to have my digital camera repaired (it is a HP)

It is about 2/3 years old with no warranty left and the zoom is the problem as it won't zoom and the shutter opens with a crackling sound.

Is there a shop that I can pop it into or does it have to go back to HP - and if so how does that happen - any contact numbers because HP's website is rubbish

    Any help greatly appreciated!

Sounds like sand to me.. always the worst culprit when it comes to stopping zoom movement.. theres a list of camera shops here.. http://www.whatswhat.ie/directory.php/Photographic_Centres/222/ might be of some use, if they cant' get the dust/sand out with a couple of blasts of air, they'll have to take the camera apart, unfortunaly the majority of small-midend digital cameras don't really have replaceable parts, so I'd prepare for the worst.

    Thanks for your reply

Yes it certainly sounds like sand - will see what they can do when I drop it in.

Im preparing for the worst allright but at least it works at the moment, just the zoom doesn't work.

Ah well, could be an excuse to get another camera.

    Thanks again!
