What do you think of Mezmerize, the new album from System of a Down?

i got the album the day it came out. great stuff. though clearly daron's developing a big ego of his own. the guitars overshadow the bass and drums a lot, and his vocals drown out serj.

Got the album a few weeks before it came out. Really fùcking good stuff from SOAD. Ive been a firm fan ever since the very first album and they have'nt let me down yet. Hope they decide to tour here again

An ego?He has only done backing vocals on any other album and im well glad hes come out to do more vocals on this album.

It's fairly decent...some really good songs in there, but I think Deron's voice ruin a few of the tracks. His whiney voice is vastly inferior to Serj's, and when he says things like ';my cock is much bigger than yours' in that horrible way he does it, it sounds really annoying. Decent album nontheless, im not a huge SOAD fan, I only really liked their first album.

I think it's quite good. First 4 tracks rawk. A few other standouts too, violent porno is pretty good. Must agree that Darons voice should not be a prominent as it is. Still I'm liking it a lot at the moment. The tracks are apretty much the top of Audioscrobblers chart this week. http://www.audioscrobbler.com/charts/

yea, Daron's vocal's are waaay too prominant, on songs like the Hollywood you can hear Serj's voice in the background and it sound's much better than Daron. My sister who doesn't know System was listenin to some stuff and she thought they were good apart from the singer.... yep, they were Daron songs she heard

If I may jump on the old Daron-Bashing-Wagon, what the f*** is he playing at? Serj is a brilliant singer and yet Daron feels the need to drown him out on a lot of the tracks with his voice with could be best described as a pre-pubescent orc.

O.K. so he may write the bulk of the music and a lot of lyrics, but so did Cantrell for AIC, but Layne Staley still sang 'em. Why? Cos he was a brilliant singer.

I hope to christ Serj re-asserts himself as vocal frontman on their next offering.

yea me too , I really really dislike Daron singing.Im a huge system fan I love them but for me the last four tracks on the cd sorta ruined it for me , there the only system songs ive ever criticized and not liked at all , ive never had to skip songs on a system album before but like the more i listen its like the more i dislike the last four songs.

Absolutely. He has a smashing voice and if Daron sang all the song's, SOAD records would have to be sold at knock off prices to be used to strip paint.

Overall, i think it has a few stand out tracks, the rest seems to be generic SOAD songs. But yeah, i like it

I'm a big system fan and like the new album, though i'm not so sure about malakian singing so much - he can hit notes well and all but it just sounds so whiney :mad:

fav songs - BYOB, revenga, violent pornography - whats the nabisco craic???

and toxicity still rules all
