Moving to London --- No Work!

Hi i have just completed a four year course in IT with Multimedia and i am very eager to move to London to pursue work. I am 22 and male by the way.

Now i have been trying some of the job agencies on the internet, www.cwjobs.co.uk www.totaljobs.com etc and so far i have drawn a blank.

What i am wondering is, and hopefully someone may have done something similar to this before me, but is it a good idea to just move over there and start calling into recruitment agencies in person??? I know everyone says to have something lined up before i go, but i know absolutey no one over there and am moving over a free agent.

I have been in London plenty of times, all the tourist spots i mean and have little or no knowledge as to accomadation but will have that sorted before i go.

Can anybody give me advice on my move? Can anybody tell me something at all,
    Thanks!!

London is very expensive to live in, but the wages there reflect that.

I've friends working over there in IT, but they all transferred there as part of an internal company move rather than as a new job so I don't know much about how hard it is to get work there.

I lived in the UK up until June last year...and was job hunting in London and surrounding 'commuter counties'. I'd try and line up several interviews and go over for a few days if I was in your shoes (though personally from a pure job perspective, I would've thought your prospects would be better in Dublin...)

I found it helpful to target specialist recruitment agencies and good jobs websites such as the Guardian one, londonjobs.co.uk which is the Evening Standard's one, Monster.co.uk, workthing.co.uk, fish4jobs.co.uk, jobsrock.com

Depending on what free time you have, you need to look at these every few days...that way you'll send enough applications to generate interviews.

If you just finished college then check out www.doctorjob.com and www.milkround.com lots of grad positions listed there. If you are dead set on London you will find it harder to land a job.
