512mb MMC = 490mb MMC for 6230i

    I bought a 512mb MMC card for my 6230i but on screen it only shows up as ~490mb. I tried formatting it using the phone but its still only 490mb. Whats going on here?

    Well if its anything like computers, 512Mb advertised means 512,000,000 bytes

    Whereas in reality 1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes and 1 Megabyte = 1024 kilobytes, which means 512,000,000 bytes is closer to 490Mb

    I've seen this discussed on a few forums and seemingly its not a problem. Just with the larger cards, the phone doesnt always display the memory correctly, but there is in fact 512 available

    would it be the space available once the card has been formatted? i.e. 512MB being the unformatted capacity, ~490MB being the formatted capacity...
