    What would the impications be?

    Fire the intigators?
Close up shop and f off to India?
    Ignore the union?

Just wondering if anyone has had experience of a union arriving into a non union american owned gig?

thy don't have to recognise it but they still have to adhere to employment law

if there was unions in the likes of Dell etc then they wouldn't get aways with half the stuff they shaft their employees with

    Thread carefully though

if it is a specific issue better off contacting LRC office privately , and don't talk about it in the canteen , the walls have ears

    AFAIK that is totally illegal.
Aren't closed shops illegal too ?

If it's a call centre India impacts negatively on existing customers - I've NEVER seen anyone comment positively on improved customer service from India.

Whats that got to do with it???

The only power a union has is if it uses industrial action to force discussion on an issue. its a game of bluff though. If the company chooses to ignore it, theres not a lot you can do. I have had friends who were involved with disputes where there was a union involved and none of them would reckon it was worth the hassle. Employment law is your main source of protection.

A company can't stop you from being a member of a union AFASIK.

I've worked where unions ruled the place; to the extent you would be more likely to get in trouble for working too hard (and making others look bad) than skiving off. The people with power in the union were able to act the bollocks totally, without fear. It was a joke tbh.
But strong unions work; especially if the knowledge of how the place actually works is kept from management, which was the case in the place I described above.
Hmmm I must start making uncommented, convoluted code from now on to prevent anybody else from being able to work on it. Insert functions that don't do anything as red herrings.

I thought that was standard practice?

Only problem is if no one else understands it, you can't be promoted!
