New Digital Camera - New York

I'm going to New York for June and July and maybe August, so I'm looking to get a digital camera when I'm over there.

    What I'm looking for is:
Relatively cheap - I definetly don't want to spend any more than, say $200, which probably really limits my choice.
Something easy to use - I don't mind having loads of options/settings, but right now, I don't have any experience with cameras, so point and shoot would be handy.
Durable - it's a living in hostels, travelling cross country kind of trip, so it needs to be pretty tough.

Looking through previous threads, it seems like B&H are the place to buy, so if you could recommend a suitable camera from them, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Canon S30 and while the newer models, namely the S50 are more expensive ($344), you may be able to pick up an S40 or 45 cheaply. I don't have a whole lot of experience with other makes 'cos I've been a canon man all my life but speaking for the powershot S series I can say you could hammer nails with the things and not hurt them. All metal cases, in fact the only plastic is the slide on the front and a couple of buttons.

The thing can't be hurt. I had it in my pocket a few times and fell on it with no ill effects. If I was ever going to get another P&S digital it'd definately be a powershot S50 or an S70. Im sure others will recommend others, this is just my 2 cents.

    Thanks for that Rymus.

I couldn't find any Sx0 model cameras on the site, the only Canon ones I could find in my budget are in the PowerShot range, namely the PowerShot A510, which is about $175, or the Fujifilm FinePix A345, which is $180. 3.1 vs 4.1 megapixels.

    Any other reccommendations/comments appreciated.
