Where can I get software that recreates drum sounds. Ones that you can program yourself? Realistic sounds. Does something like this exist?

Reason 3.0 is the way to go. Best around.

Honestly I havent heard Reason 3.0 but I've used Reason 2.0 a fair bit and I think that a setup using Fruity Loops to implement a program called SampleTank 2 is far sweeter. Most realistic Drum sounds I've ever heard. Any instrument for that matter. Piano, Sax anything.

Groove agent has some awesome kits as long as you have a vst host, and can be got fairly reasonably cheap off ebay (think I got my copy for around €20)

If you're looking for realistic acoustic drums, look no further than rayzoon. It comes with a great sample library, generates rhythms for you, and you can control and automate most of what it does to get exactly the drum track you want with little effort. It's on sale for $79 now (about €60?) It's a VSTi instrument, so you'll need a VSTi compatable sequencer package like cubase/cubasis, FL studio, Sonar, etc.

the best drum sampler available for my money is battery. Professional standard all the way and the included sample library is superb, even includes high quality samples of different brands(zildjian, sabian...) of cymbals, snares etc.

I use Fruityloops producer with Sample tank 2. A also use Drum Kit From Hell which is the most realistic stuff you'll hear. mostly cause its all actual drum samples from a lot of different kits
