do your ps2 and xbox share the same scart/composite input to your tv?

if there using differnet inputs then maybe only one of them can handle it?

Is it a propper RGB cable you are using on all the consoles. Not a composite to scart adapter?

If your TV supports it get a scart RGB cable for the PS2. The ones in game are decent enough and not too pricey. Also you get a huge increase in signal quality so its all good.

60Hz is the NTSC television format - you put your PS2 onto 60Hz, it puts everything out in NTSC format (this is what is used in USA and Japan). Many older TVs either will show a scrambled picture with NTSC, or will produce the picture in Black And White, as is happening with you. Newer TVs will output 60Hz NTSC no problem.

Don't bother setting the PS2 to 60Hz - the quality is absolutely no better, it could sometimes be worse. 50Hz is the PAL format and is used throughout Europe.

60Hz is the NTSC television format
No, The NTSC television format is 60Hz, but not necessarily the other way around. In this case the signal is PAL60, a signal identical to PAL except that it's done at 60Hz. Most TVs made within the last 10 years support it. I worry for chorus customers ;)

evad_lhorg, SCART is just a container connector, and different signals can be sent through it, usually via different pins. I know the Gamecube just outputs on regular composite video and comes with a SCART adapter. I'm not sure what the PS2 and XBOX have,
Is it just a direct console-to-SCART cable with no adapter needed? If so, it could be that they're transmitting signals other than composite video. It's likely that your XBOX also does composite video, because both it and the cube work fine, but maybe your PS2 outputs S-Video (or possibly RGB component video, but that's unlikely using the standard cable that came with it) If you need to plug your PS2 into the telly via a SCART adapter, tell me what kind of cables go into the SCART adapters. Is it the standard red, white and yellow cables? Or are there red, white and a bigger multi-pin black cable? This would suggest S-video.

Anyway, don't forget to try deleting (or temporarily moving) your PS2 system file, and if possible the settings file of whichever game you're trying in 60Hz.

It could of course be that the PS2 is outputting NTSC, whereas the others are outputting PAL60. This is in fact the most likely story, because it's only the colour information that differs between NTSC and PAL, so if it does send NTSC, your TV will ouptut the brightness (b&w) fine, but not be able to figure out the colour information. So check the game to make sure it's supposed to be outputting PAL60, and not NTSC.
