Thank god for the internet , its providing me with such new gems as "Anthony and the Johnsons " ,,,,cant wait now to see them in july (Vicar street )....have had a listen to some live mp3's well impressed , what a voice ( Yes I know its over the top but what the hell , there is a diva in all of us , Straight or Gay ). ( Mybe Rufus , will come along on the night as he will be in ireland with Mr. Willson )

Now if only the Arcade Fire would play vicar street as well as the Electric Pinic day out my summer will be complete

Antony is excellent. I'll be away for his show this year but I saw him a couple of years ago when he was part of Lou Reed's band and he stole the show. He did a version of Candy Says (it's on the last Lou Reed live album) and it just knocked the socks off anything else that night.

Yeah, super voice, very different from anything thats out at the moment. Might get a ticket for the Vicar St. gig.

Saw him on Jools Holland 2 weeks ago. Definitely not my cup of tea. His vocal technique means he loses a lot of clarity. It was very difficult to hear, understand him.

Absolutely fabulous album I think, bit on the short side but very, very good nonetheless. Anthonys voice is just out on its own.

Saw him on Jools too a couple of weeks ago. When I originally saw this thread I checked out the music and I really liked it. I was holding out on getting a ticket for Vicar St beacuse I didn't think they would sell out :( - anyway, the song he played on Jools is my favourite track on the album, maybe the tickets will go back on sale like the U2 farce...

this was due to people buying more than 6 with the same creditcard and any tickets after the sixth one were put back on sale a week or so before the gig, the same thing happened with oxegen tickets during the week... but i don't think it's going to happen with antony and them johnsons...

Fair enough, thanks for the explanation.

Edit: Straight after posting that I decided to check the Ticketmaster site and the tickets were back on sale again! However, there are none available again, what a load of crap.

Nobody mentioned this gig to me.
Anyone go? Was it as good as I presume it was?
