Just put my system together and had it working grand.

    MSI KN8 SLI mb
    AMD 64 3000+
    Leadtek 6600GT
    Antec 480W trueblue PSU
Windows XP with service parck 2

I installed one of those windows automatic updates and now windows tres to load, but just after the logo it retarts and it keeps doing this. I cant even run safe mode it just keeps restarting. Any ideas guys? Would it be sp2 or those sh1tty updates?

    Kazzer,
hows it going. How long have you had the PC going before it started rebboting. I had a similiar problem when I built a PC for a mate.
It turned out that the fan wasnt the correct one. When the PC booted up it started to overheat and the overhead protection kicked in.

Dunno if this will help though!!!
    regards

you should be able to get to safe mode, which logo is it rebooting after? the windows logo or the Bios logo?

Same happened to me when I upgraded MoBo and processor. It is an XP SP2 issue. Trick is to set the BIOS to boot from CD and try to fix. You may have to reinstall (or fix, if possible). Be carefull with rebooting too many times, my HDD got corrupt as a result.

Thanks zoned. I thought that might be it as I know this happens when things overheat. But ive had it running for a couple of days now and played games on it etc. The bizarre thing is its not the first time, when I first set up the pc it stated to happen. So I did a fresh install and now its happening again. I have a funny feeling its one of those windows automatic updates!

    Thanks for the tips guys.

I cant even get into safe mode, when I select it it just reboots as it starts to load. (its the win xp logo btw)

Will I have to do another fresh install? I wont be installing that poxy sp2 again thats for sure.
