tip: find random amateur bands websites(the more local and similiarish style the better), join their forums, get to know them, find out when their playing a gig, go along and support them, learn from them! try and get gigs with them.
its a long process but it works....

either that or just ask around different venues if you can play for free or whatever(i.e. eamon dorans, the hub, fibbers etc...)
put those tracks onto a cd, sell it at your gigs, its the only feasible way you're gonna make any money at this stage

We thought about selling the cd's.... And we decided that that is all nonsense.
If you want to make a CD, prepare for nonsense and loss!
We will be making a CD that we'll be giving away free at gigs. Why not! They're so cheap anyway!
As to your other point about (in a word) networking, that's what we agreed on. the reason I placed this ad, was, that someone might have someone else cancel, and we have no problem filling in. Trust me, we have no problem about experiencing experience whatsoever. :)

have you actually any experience in this matter ?? i can agree with your sentiment, but dont be so quick to push it down. case in point, i heard about some friends of mine doing a gig with this band called the gurriers in whelans, unfortunately i missed the gig.
the next week im browsing through sentinel records when i find one of their ep's, i buy it recognising the name wanting to know what they sound like(it was only 5euro too) i fall in love with the cd, im now officially a fan.
cd's are much more controlled than gigs, you control what comes out, you have very little control at gigs(s***ty venue/sound, instruments/mics/speakers acting the b*******),
if you've gigged before, you'll know all that anyway.
i know what im talking about, i work as a full time roadie for a high profile entertainment show band(they have 13 gigs next month) and before you ask, no im not naming them and no they dont have support bands ;) .

anyway im getting off the point.....
i like your sample track, very cool!
if you had a cd i'd buy it(or alternatively i'd download the track).
never been to crawdaddy, so cant comment on there as a venue.
i'd check you guys out, but alas im working...

also do yourself a favour, and print up a couple posters/leaflets and post them around crawdaddy and other places, send your cd into radio stations and magazines, try to get yourself noticed.

anyway g'luck with your gig, and sorry for all that above crap^^^

So, a quick update, as a result of this thread, we supported Boss Volenti and Fired for Theft on the 29th may in Crawdaddy. Gig went well, we brought 20+ people to the gig. The lads in the other bands were great but headache about us not getting soundchecked, so, the sound was a bit muck.

Anyway, back on the hunt for gigs. If you or someone you know needs a support band, Please reply here or send a PM
