Start on monday, with Nuaghaeilge 1. Should be alright, i'm a lot more worried about the following week.

Good luck for everyone else too. People have been spending so much time on boards, i feel they may have neglected their studies. (not that i'm much better)

I've never had a saturday exam, ever. And unless one of my exams next year is on a Saturday it's not looking likely that I will

it's better to study in the morning then you can watch desperate housewives in the evenings (it's so entertaining!).
i remember i had to do my leavving cert when ireland was playing in the world cup and it was really difficult to concentrate ecuse people kept beeping their horns. at least the world cup isn't on!

Introduction to Organisation and Managment tomorrow morning in the RDS.

Dr. Gerard McHugh, with all due respect, please be nice to us.

EduCat, I will be calling you tomorrow afternoon. I am ill, have swollen glands. I am physically able to the do the exams but they'd not be very good for my health and I am not prepared for several subjects - in some part due to my ill-health this week. In case you manage to answer before I call you at about 1pm tomorrow, when would I have to sit the exams again if I 'drop out' of them? Would I be sitting with the people who failed? When would they be? What happens if I fail them?

Am I better just doing the exams now and getting them over with and if the dreaded 'f' word occurs, I can fight them another day?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,523 ✭✭✭ApeXaviour

Having been sick doing exams I say do them unless you are utterly bedridden. You will just be doing resits in september for the ones you fail or don't sit (don't sit = bad fail). The less of these the better. You need to show a medcert if you miss a paper in order to do the resits.

Resits are bad, they fkuk up your summer.

Do give me a call (6468439). It's possible in some cases to do an exam that you missed within the current exam period, although this is usually if a paper can be prepared, and it's something you get over quickly! But the general rule applied is that certified illness (i.e. you get your med cert and you get it to your tutor within 3 days of the absence) means that you do the paper at the supplemental session (i.e. the resits in September).

"Medical certificates will not be accepted in explanation for poor performance" - however at times, background factors (i.e. illness, finance, family circumstances) etc are relevant in academic appeals - these are different in that they don't change your grade, but can (if successful) allow you to go on to the next year rather than repeat the year, or get a special (aka 'super supplemental) exam in October. But that's not worth worrying about for the moment - it's a last resort.
