im looking for a good online shop that sells either a squire tele or somthing slighty better, My main guitar is a "customised" squire strat and its nearly 10 years old but still sounds great, but i ten dto break strings so a back up guitar is required,

note i also have a Gibson SG but only use it in the studio, im not mad about it.

    any suggestions?

Sell the SG and buy a guitar you like.

if you're not mad about it then do you use it in the studio:confused: Why not use it as a back up guitar?

because, it sounds radically different to the squire and doesn't fit into the dynamic, also i do plan on selling it.

    www.rondomusic.net

They stock a wide range of SX guitars for very low prices. The shipping should be about $85 or so (that's the quote I got). SX reputedly make guitars that can compete with Mexican Fenders quality wise.

They also sell a house brand called Agile, which have caused quite a stir over at Harmony Central. They'd be more like Epiphone quality but for a fair bit less. Import duty might change that though.

SX are nowhere even close to Mex Fender quality, around the same bracket as Squier to be honest. Agile are meant to be quite nice though. Mr Angry was quite happy with his if memory serves.

His Agile is quite nice. Build wise, I'd say it's on par with my SZ but the pickups are a little dull for me. I still have to try it out properly though. Agiles seem to be a minefield, in terms of whether you'll get a good one or not.

but you said in your first post that you're looking for a squire:confused:

I honestly can't see why he's looking to downgrade from a Gibson SG to a Squire...

Although, I have been gassing over a few Squires lately..

i can't comprehend it either. I mean, fair enough, maybe an SG isn't giving him the sound he's looking for, but yet they use it in the studio:confused: and on top of that think a squire will do a better job.

    i'm all confuzzled.

Tell you what, i'll swap you my epi for your sg?

Why have two guitars the exact same too? Doesn't really make sense. Unless you have more money than sense. In which case it does make sense. :D

Or to make things cheaper he could always just figure out why he keeps breaking strings? I can't even remember the last time i broke a string.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Good point. The last time I broke a string was a year ago or something when I was pulling back on the trem with 10's in standard. CHUNK. Such a horrible noise

it's a long time since i broke a string and i play with 9's.. Usually only happens when they're on for a long time.

    Burrs on the bridge.

I just fixed up my LTD a few weeks ago. New trem posts, filed the knife edges, sanded the saddles. Now it's absolutely gorgeous to play. Completely different beast to the SZ.
