RTW slows to a crawl when flaming arrows/onagers used

Anyone experienced this before?, it's really frustrating as my framerates drop to almost non existent whenever I switch my archers or onagers to using fire arrows, thankfully the only time I generally need to use it is during a siege so doesn't affect in the field battles, but it's really annoying as I need to keep the camera pointed away from them until they've destroyed the ram/tower etc and I can turn it off. I don't think it's a hardware issue as you can see from my signature I'm got a fairly high spec'd machine. I was thinking that maybe it is a bug, seen a few people mention it, only vague references to it being fixed in v1.2 which I've considered installing. However I've been playing a campaign for the last 3 weeks, I don't even want to think how many hours of my life have gone into it (just too addictive ;)), and I haven't seen any comments anywhere on whether or not v1.2 affects your current campaign. Anyone any ideas or know of another way of resolving this as it's been wrecking my head and the only sour point on an otherwise exceptionally enjoyable game.

Hmm, I'm not certain on this but I dont think patching will feck up your save games. Or at least its not caused me any problems that I can remember. I stand open to correction.

You could always try backing up your save game files, so if it buggers up, reinstall RTW and put the save files back in. Should work though.

cheers guys, might have a look at doing that tonight if I get the chance, does this mean that 1.2 resolves the frame rate problem with any missle with fire option on?

I don't think your save will be effected when you patch. Im pritty sure i did the same thing and the patch did not effect my save. If that don't solve your problem well dont use fire no more.

Strange one as your computer is so powerfull looking at your spec.

yeah I know, been bugging the sh*t out of me, play everything else with settings at highest, Far Cry, Half Life 2 etc effortlessly, this is the only game I've had any problems with, between that and it just crashing out which has happened 3 times, each time strangely enough when I decline a mission from the senate for my faction leader to kill himself and in effect declaring war! Definitely need to put the patch on though, really enjoy the game and would like to play it as intended. As it is I don't because of this use the fire option, but that doesn't stop the AI from doing so
