Yoda's fighting style

This has probably been argued before, but I need to know if anyone else is sick that George "No neck" Lucas stole Yoda's dignity by making him fight like a smacked up ninja gopher with a lightsaber. I say that a much better style would have been to have him weild his lightsaber using the force, while not moving himself about much, but the guy I work with says that would be even worse looking than the shambles that is the end of episode II. What do the rest of you think?

Yeah i agree with your friend, that would've been much worse.Maybe if he didn't even have to draw his lightsaber & could just stop Dooku striking him using the force, might have been better but i think George did a good job & they've got progressively better.

I think Yoda shouldn't have ought Dooku atall, Mace should have done the fighting, Yoda is not the fighting type, he is the wise one, not the powerfull one. and I hate the idea that the Emperor is going to be using a lightsaber aswell, he should have stuck with the force powers

He should use the Force. He's the second most powerful Jedi afaik, after Anakin so it would make sense that he uses the Force to control his lightsaber

And do you think his mastery of the force just happened over night?

Yoda would have had to have gone through the trials just as anyone else, and would have had to learn to use a saber. It is the tool of the jedi. Anyway, isn't it a case where you're only supposed to use the force as a last resort? That any fighting is to be done using your saber? I thought that was the code of a jedi?

And the fact that he could jump around just showed how in tune he was with the force - the fact that he can do that when he uses the force. Turning him from a frail old man into a hyper fighting machine.

isn't yoda supposed to have been the greatest light saber wielder ever? At least that's what I've remember. There was a line in one of the movies where Obi-wan tells anakin that some day he may even come close to being as good as Master yoda with a light saber ?

    memnoch is right,
when obi wan and anakin are chasing the assassin in ep2 through coruscant obi wan says something like 'if you spent half as much time practising with your light sabre as you do on your wit then you might be as good as master yoda'
anakin replies 'i thought i already was'
obi wan - 'only in your mind'...

yoda is definitely one of the best with and without a lightsabre....mace would be up there too i guess from seeing ep. 3...

stop ruining it. As was said, the point behind it was that yoda was one of the greatest saber duelists. jeeze, its almost become fad to just groan about anything you possibly can with the new star warseseses.

Just enjoy em for what they are.
