I just had a craving for a festival burger, you know the ones that are €8 and taste like a metal spoon... With the summer coming on and all the talk of festivals etc I guess thats where the craving came from.

On the subject though, why does no one try to open up that market, its criminal that we are charged so much for sub standard food. How are these licences allocated and is there no regulation on prces?

Dunno man but all I can remember is that the prices went up as the festival went on. I remeber paying 10 euro for a chicken baguette at Oxegen last year. 10 EURO!! Now it was the best goddamn baguette i had ever tasted because I was starving but still...10 euro!

As far as I know you will pay a hefty fee to the event organisers to park your chuck wagon at one of these concerts, hence the inflated price.

Plus they have a captive audience, it's not like you can call for a Dominos now is it?

The food a Croke Park is the worst, most over priced food you're every likely to buy though.

There's no real reason for the high prices though except greed on the part of the promoters.

The crunch of the bones in the burgers is a sensation I will never forget.

As someone who has worked selling this food, yes they do make loads of money. The smaller vendors don't however and they get charged stupid prices for licenses, so they have to charge more. The larger vendors just charge around the same but get more customers.

The food itself is usually fine unless you have somewhere with young people who can't work the machines or forget how long food has to be cooked. Always go to the vendors with the older people if you have a choice between two similar stalls.

Remember the people working there usually have nothing to do with the prices and have been working hard all day. It's probably one of the toughest food service jobs you can do. 24 hours straight usually.
