Scaffold Boards for raised beds

Anyone know of a source for used scaffold boards, pref within reach of Cork ?

I'm putting in four 8X8 raised vegetable beds & dont want to use sleepers because of the cancer risk.

All of the builders merchants & scaffold suppliers that I've tried are reluctant to sell them because of the liability issue (in case you actually use them for scaffolding)

I think the 'cancer risk' associated with sleepers is only a concern if you are in long term physical contact with the treated timber, i.e if you eat your dinner off it every day!
There are imported sleepers available which have no creosote in them, so there is no risk at all.

Salvage is probably your best bet.
If their is a risk of cancer from eating off the wood I wouldn't want the vegatables growing in soil shared with them.

Yep, cost is an issue as well - although I really don't want to risk sleepers after the press coverage. The veg will be in close proximity ot the sleepers for some time while its growing, so to me, thats a risk.....

    Thanks for the thoughts anyway
