DIT Rag Trip vs Trinity Ball

I was at both this year, and it has to be said that the Rag trip is waay more fun. The people are much more down to earth on the Rag Trip also. Not to mention its cheaper aswell!! Sorry if this pisses you guys off but it has to be said.

You can make an absolute fool of yourself on the Rag Trip (like I did) and people actually laugh with you and join in with you. Some of the stares I got at the Trinity Ball this year were so cold they could have frozen hello over. It just seemed so false, it was just a fasion show for 90% of the girls at it.

Anyone else have opinions on this??

My brother went on this rag trip a few times. Sounds a bit boring. Pub, bus, pub, bus.

I'd rather be able to wander around and do as i feel.

I'm guessing you go to DIT, if so no wonder you prefered it as you probably knew a lot more people there than at the ball.
I can't comment on your rag trip as i've never been on it but the ball's great when you get to see college really different and college people really different.
It's a really good night i think and as a non TCD student i doubt you can really comment on what it's like for us

I made an absolute tit of myself too on the trinity ball and got severely wasted - those are the only times I start man-handling others or (contemplating - this time) climbing scaffolding/flagpoles/dance tents......

its all good. you may well have been spilling drink and knocking people over, which could have explained the cold looks. Or slagging off Trinners......

Ronny, I do believe I know you...

Anyway I go to DIT but prefered the ball...ONLY beacuse most my friends are in Trinity, and to be honest I was one of the few that enjoyed it, so many said it sucked, couldn't find each other, got kicked out bla bla, the Rag Trip everyone liked, but does just doesnt have the class the ball has...maybe if we wore tuxs on the rag trip....

I've always been a little wary of rag trips.

pub+alcohol+water+bus+small bladders = not great combination

part of the fun of the Ball is wandering around seeing people you know all dressed up, and the campus in a wonderful state that i like to call paradise (aka 'free of tourists with cameras asking where the book of kells is').

Spogpean you cannot compare them. It's like comparing caviar to a burger. Or the trinity ball to the 100 other events I go to during the year. It's mostly dependent on mood and atmosphere tbh.

with regard to the people being "much more down to earth", it all depends on who you were hangin around with and it sounds like you were just hangin out with a bunch of knobs. Also there're much greater expectations for the ball because of the money, expectations completely kill a night imo. You just end up comparing it to what you expected it to be. This is why spontaneous nights out are the very very best form of night out ever! You expected to watch telly and go to bed, but you end up going to doyles, doing the limbo a bunch of times on the dance floor while still managing to hold onto your two pints of guinness, doing a russian dance in a kebab shop, somehow catching the tail end of a reggae concert in the TBMC, some random bloke giving you enough for a couple mary-jane cigarettes just cos you happened to be talking to them and mentioned you wouldn't mind getting high, sitting by the canal enjoying said gift with your mate from northern ireland, walking up aungier street, hear a woman behind you saying she'd love to have some smoke now, turning around and agreeing with her, said woman going "ah here love", reaching into her purse and giving you enough for some more of those wacky cigs, hugging her and giving her a wet one on the cheek in thanks for the generosity, going to said nordy friend's flat in rathmines and playing tekken til 7am with his flatmate while getting considerably more intoxicated on more than one substance..

Yeah.. those are the best....................................... (making up for the lack of fullstops prior to this)

Out of sheer curiosity Spogpean, what do you do in DIT and what were you first three choices on the CAO?
