hey, im a guy and i've been growing my hair for about 6 months or so, i guess its prob about 4-4.5 inches on top, if that helps gauge it.
so anyway, the top is kinda grand, cuz it falls down a bit, with some gel, but i always have probs with the back/sides (at back of neck & nehind ears) curling up loads, which kinda looks crap cuz it curls out to the sides at the end too.

so can any1 give me some tips as to ease the frizz and curl at ends?
i currently use "Garnier Fructus weightless smoothing serum" followed by "TREsemme silk shine straightener (smooth)" and i regularly condition my hair. To be honest tho, i rarely blow dry it after the shower, as its a bore, but do i kinda have to blow dry it every time to stop frizz?!

    cheers

Totally know where you are coming from. My hair always curls up when I grow it even remotely longish. I always find that when my hair gets wet it curls and it takes a few days to straighten down without getting it wet. I had a similar problem when I grew my hair long last year. I used straightening creams to get my fringe to go straight. I t worked but as soon as my hair made contact with the wind it was all over the place again. Regarding the back of the neck and behind the ears there is little you can do. if you keep on growing you hair long it won't become much of a problem but when you are in the process of growing it long it looks sh*te. The only thing I could recommend you try (I'm going to sound like such a girl when I admit this) but a hair straightener? I tried my friends GHD once and f**k sake it worked! Now it was only once I tried it but f**k sake it meant straight hair.

I have a GHD. It was bought for me as a present (albeit an expensive one I did not ask for) but now that I have it (and have mentally excused the fact that I do) I think its great :)

It not that I want poker straight hair or every hair exactly in place, just that my hair can develop a mind of its own from time to time, and a quick blast with the GHD sorts it out. It is actually really handy.

yeah, i think tahst wat i want my hair to do... idefinitely dont want hair as straight as girls would want it or anything, that would look very gay indeed, but just to tame it i guess.
but a girl once told me that she has to straighten her hair after every wash... surely i wouldnt need that too, would i?
daz: how often would you need to use it, or does the effect of straightening once, wear off after you shower next?

lads: any sugegstions on good gels/creams, eg brylcream etc?

Sunsilk, the purple shampoo and conditioner, is pretty good. Really smoothes out hair. Also fructis smoothing serum is very good for smoothing. Other than that, nothing can beat a straightener.

cheers dave, i'l look into that alright.
more so, in way of products, i guess the ideal thing i'd be interested in is something that keeps ur hair looking like it does after a shower or something...
you know, a few minutes after you get out and ur hair is still wet, and it just flops down and feels natural... kinda lookin for tht effect, but obviously nothing really greasy looking either...
most gels/serums i've tried look good for half an hour, but when my hair dries out, it doesnt help too much...my hair usually gets pretty dry soon enough.
any suggestions as to how to keep it this way?

I would wash my hair at-least every second day. Now because of where I work and having long hair I try to keep it as neat as I can, and wear it in a pony-tail. So I tend to blow dry it the first day, and generally give it a very quick straighten the second (if need be). Normally that's twice a week depending how things work out. Sometimes I would use it after I wash/dry my hair but that is very seldom.

TBH regardless of what products you use, if your hair doesn't dry straight (mine definitely doesn't) you'll need to at minimum blow dry it straight. For me I don't mind letting it dry naturally, but it frizzes if I wear it in a pony-tail, and the second day just has a mind of its own.

    D.
