Yeah but the whole point of the two threads I posted in was to campaign for a boxing specific forum on here. I'm merely informing those interested that one already exists on another site if people wish to use it.

East side boxing forums is possibly the biggest boxing forum on the internet which I use regulary but I don't go touting its name around here .

Lets stick to getting a forum on boards first as its better to have all your forums on one site .

Fair enough. Only reason I posted it is there didn't seem to be all that much support for actually setting up a dedicated board here despite the fact that there appears to be quite a few boxing fans posting here.

Just saw Tarver vs Johnson and to be honest I was a little disappointed. Both guys were cagey in the first few rounds and then it just looked like Johnson had run out of ideas. Still, they'll probably do the third match and who knows, it could be a great fight...I'm just not so sure.

Ya wasn't that great a fight , although Gatti V Mayweather tonight  im so hyped up about this fight . Harris is on the undercard aswell .
How id love the fight tonight to turn into a war and 'Pretty Boy Floyd' ends up losing his unbeaten record aswell as taking a beating . Not going to happen though Mayweather will get a UD over the 12 .

Totally agree with you Big Ears, it would be great to see Mayweather pick up his first 'L'. I don't think it'll happen either , although Gatti has the potential to give him a few scares. Hope I'm wrong though. Go Gatti!

    http://www.frankwarren.tv/fw4/mainheadline.php?subaction=showfull&id=1120222994&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&

Now unless you can get UTV terrestially or you have NTL/Corus or have FTA cards then you won't be seeing any fights promoted by Frank Warren for a while .

Sky will most likely to continue showing the big American fights but all I can hope is TV3 do something radical and pick up the fights too , but that isn't going to happen :( .

    Wow...I'm shocked...

I was just thinking, maybe Sky will use the extra money to buy the rights to some more American fights? Although Skys coverage has gotten alot better, we missed Ruiz v Toney, Brewster v Golota etc. It was interesting to note Paul Dempsey was plugging Skys international coverage on Friday. I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed. Does anyone know what Sky plan to do with regards to their lack of fights for the next 2 years?

I presume we will just be seeing more International fights on Sky , maybe I should pick up a cheap sateleitte for the TV that doesn't have Sky , then id have UTV , C4 and possibly C5 which I don't have any of now .

Let me just check. Are ITV showing all their fights for free? On their site they specifically mentioned showing big fighters such as Hatton. For a guy that just got onto PPV last month he can't be happy with the ITV arrangement? Unless I'm missing something...I heard rumors of him leaving Frank Warren (before the ITV deal was announced) Is there any truth to that?

Hatton will definetly leave Warren if Warren can't get him some more big fights . (this isn't news reports or anything this is from interviews I have heard with Hatton while talking to SKY after fighting yet another nobody) Up until the Tszyu fight was announced Hatton was becoming impatient with Warren and he was obviously frustrated . It would be weird with Hatton not being on PPV in the UK but any big fight (Corrales , Mayweather , Cotto) will certainly be PPV in the states .

Wayne McCullough's chin...amazing. I think the doctor made the right call (and Wayne himself addmitted it) but you have to feel bad for the guy. At 35 I don't think there's much more he can do, though he's well connected and may still be involved in boxing. A true warrior.

If only he had a punch to go with that granite chin he would have been a top top fighter

Time to stop now Wayne, too many beatings

I honestly beleive his chin would be good enough for a top middleweight (which is about 40 lbs heavier) his skull is twice as thick as a regualr persons but its not just a chin that keeps you upright . He has been hit with some ferocious body shots in his time but has never hit the canvas . The man is the definition of tough .

Any thoughts on the IBF ordering a box off between Wladimir Klitschko and Samuel Peter? As poor as Wlad's chin has been of late I don't expect a repeat of the Corrie Sanders fight. It's good to see fighters earning a title shot for a change...

Anyone get feedback on why the thread requesting a boxing forum was closed?

I actually favour Wlad by to UD Peter or win by late TKO . Peter has got some very ruff edges skill wise and once Wlad doesn't let Peter back him up and unload he will win . The WBC have also ordered a box-off for Peter , against Samil Sam . Unless Wlad doesn't want the fight I think he will go for the IBF one .

I notice Howard Eastman lost again at the weekend. He blames the judges but reading reports from the fight it says it was a scrappy affair anyway. I think people expected more of him when he fought Hopkins and now another defeat. I thik if he had really pushed himself in the last few round v Hopkins, things could be very different for him right now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 368 ✭✭Geiger

Eastman got beat fair and square in my opinion. One judge had him losing by 6 or 7 points which was just silly. I'm not sure how much Eastman has left. After two title shots and losing the euro belt it could be hard for him to come back. Age is also a factor to consider (he's 34/35?) though I'd say his loss was more to do with a lack of desire.

Yeah I agree, I saw him fight Hopkins and I believe in the last few rounds he didn't have the heart to really attack Hopkins who was comfortable. He seems to be one of these guys that can never admit defeat. After he lost to Hopkins he said " He ran for the whole fight, he knew he had to get away from me,But a champion should box like a champion. He should come to fight like I did, not run. I came to his backyard and I was the aggressor." Then he goes on to blame the ref quote: " I will fight 12 hard rounds toe to toe. I couldn't stick to my game plan tonight. "I wanted to get inside and work close, but every time I got near Hopkins the referee called for a break" and it was the same with his last fight at the weekend blaming the judges. Anyone but himself.
