    anyone in eamo's last night?

usually the bar stays open till half 2 then everyone gets moved downstairs to drink up till about half 3.

for some reason the whole place just shut down at 2.05 and everyone had to leave, no drinking up time or anything,

    just bouncers throwing everyone out.

i asked them and they said the gards closed them down,
my mates asked and they said they were closed for revovations

    anyone know what really happened?

Huey from the Fun Lovin Criminals was in town last night. He's friends with owner Frank Doran (and even part owns Eamo's AFAIK?) and always takes over the place over for a get-togehter when he's in Dublin.

I reckon that's why you were kicked out , but that's just speculation on my part. Either way no one renovated a pub at 2 in morning :)

I used to work in a very busy pub and at half 3/4 o'clock in the morning, when I was leaving, workers(tilers?) were starting to tile the floors.

i had the same experience as dawballz when i worked in my local, they closed an hour earlier and about 10 tradesmen came barging in to get the renovation work done

dont know what could need to be done to dorans but its normally to dark to see anything wrong in there

I've seena similar thing happen when a friend bought a pub recently. He closed the place slightly early then got some friends in to help him tear up the existing floor and lay a new wooden one. A lovely job and he was back open for business the following evening.

    yup....

When I was in NY in 2001, I was at an FLC gig on 4th July in a tiny venue with about 50 or so people max capacity.. It was genius. It was just like a party in someones front room with the FLC playing.

They were drinking while they were playing... They actually played for about 3 hours or so. So by the time they were finished they were fairly well on. It then turned into a karaoke type thing, with anyone who wanted to could go up and sing a song with the FLC.

Anyway, Huey was a cool guy. He was buying drinks etc for everyone there and we chatted to him for a while. He's a funny fcuker to say the least... His 'sessions' are pretty famous alright...

It just costs more - but then it costs even more to close a busy pub for a day....

Any decent publican does have a duty to their regular customers and should stay open....

Seen them at midnight in Olympia many moons ago they went back to Dorans (diff name then) and one by one they dropped he was only one that could do anything that resembled standing up.

    Best night ever!
