Channel 9 TV (based in some city along the Foyle river) did have a transmitter in Coleraine on Channel 48, Horiz Polarity with a Max ERP of 1kW the last time I checked. I would assume it is still running.

They have a website at www.c9tv.tv but contary to that site, they are not broadcasting from Strabane.

Yes I seem to remember the station in question were awarded a licence for Strabane but for some reason I dont think they ever did anything with it. The four year licence seems to have lapsed now with no new takers

Didnt realise they actually had the Coleraine relay (presume theres no opt-outs) up and running. What about Limavady ?

Also if the station's website is claiming to potential advertisers to be covering Strabane surely thats not on ? But then again it also says things like
The average person in Northern Ireland watches TV for around for hours a day

98% of homes have a television set, 38% have 3 TV sets or more and 91% have a VCR.
I wonder what percentage of homes have licences :D
c9tv is now the third most watched free-to-air terrestrial television service within our broadcast area.
In an area with nine other FTA analouge services (not to mention digital services) thats quite a claim.

    Here is an old thread
Back in 2002 they sent me an email:
Channel 9 are continuously upgrading transmission and at the moment broadcasts from Coleraine, Limavady, Derry and Strabane on frequencies 21 and 48.
I watched it for over a month then it ceased.

The station are based in Spencer Road, Derry. For the past 8 months the only programmes made by themselves are the news, local advertising features and a music programme called L@ter and the rest of the schedule is made up Sky News and cheap programmes about space and nature. The building they are in is massive and they are in the middle of building a very big venue that will host major acts coming to the city and the station will be televising them and the venue will play a major role for the station by introducing more entertainment type programming.

I think the reason why not many people outside of Derry can recieve C9TV is becuase they moved about 3 years ago to the Waterside which affected the reception in many areas.

Surely that wouldn't have affected the transmitters, though? It's still Sherriff's Mountain, is it?

Yeah, but once they moved their transmission equipment into their new premises when they were moving, my reception of C9 went from perfect to a kind of snowy picture and it's been like that ever since. I also know that they have a satellite dish onto of the building.
