Looking to buy a satfinder but don’t know much about them. I have seen several on websites for around 15 Euro. Are they any good?
I was told that they normally cost hundreds. I know pro installers use a better quality satfinder, what are the differences between the cheap one and the expensive one?

you don't need to spend huge money on a pro one, which tell you what satellite you are on i think?.you can get a cheap one on satellite.ie for €21.57 incl. delivery and they are well worth the money.i used one of for setting up dish with motor and got it perfect with one of these. put hose band around wall bracket so dish can move freely left/right without moving down the pole.have dish at correct angle for your latitude.

1.turn meter about half way so you get constant beep
2.move dish slowly to satellite till you get loud beep
3.slowly turn meter down while turning dish slightly left/right,up/down until you get lowest beep possible at that satellite.
    4. slowly tighten bolts while making sure beep is still audible.

    Thanks Mayto

Just a few questions though. What are the main benefits of the more expensive satfinder? The satfinder on satellite.ie looks very small (not doubting it or anything). What are the differences between both types?

i do not know benefits other than they will tell you the exact satellite you are on, signal strength etc.you will still have to physically aim the dish at the satellite and fine tune it.if you tune into a satellite the way i said above, the dish will be aligned as good as is possible.get the satellite.ie sat finder ,at €21.57 its a bargain ,you don't need to spend a lot of money on a pro sat finder.

The LED beeper ones ifrom LIDL are a pain to use

Digital meters are only a worthwhile investment if youre a professional installer some of them can identify the satellite the signal is coming from

Using the Maplin Sat finder, what should the meter read when the dish is correctly align ?
