So the runes of the Elder Futhark are in 3 rows of 8 runes.

If you make correspondencce betwwen the first rune in each row and Samhain,
and the second rune in each row and Winter Solstice, etc, the results are interesting:-

Samhain: Fehu, /Feoh - cattle, wealth (cattle were killed at Samhain)
    Hagalaz/ Haegl -hail, difficulty, danger
Teiwaz/ Tyr -sacrifice to avert danger

Winter Solstice: Uruz auroch, wild ox, primordial survival strength
    Nauthiz constriction, being in need
Berkana birch, the Mother, fresh beginings

    Imbolc: Thurisaz Thorn aggressive defense
    Isa Ice, standstill
    Ehwaz Horse

Spring Equinox: Ansuz Divine Inspiration, Prophecy
    Jera the turning year, fertility
    Mannaz Human Conciousness

    Bealtinne: Raido Sex, riding
Eiwaz yew, the world tree ( like the May pole)
    Laguz flow , green growth

    Summer Solstice:Kennaz bright torch
    Pertho Birth of mystery
    Inguz fertility, phallic God

    Lughnasadh: Gifu Gifts
