    I've been invited to a "cocktail party" at the weekend and told thats its smart dress. Apart from the fact that it's a kinda arty bunch who no doubt will talk $h!t about the astetic value of this film ver's the audio-visual value of post-modernist litrature it's sounds better than staying in.

    But, what exactly is smart dress? or is it relative?
    I was thinking of wearing a suit with a relatively casual shirt and the top few buttons open, is this overkill or underkill.

    Answers on a postcard to here, alternatively an invite to somewhere else this Saturday night will do nicely.

    Wear the suit and the shirt, but I'd go with a tie, too. Besides, if that's too fancy, you could always take the tie off. ^__^

    If you're unsure about the tie, and don't fancy adjusting you wardrobe once you've left the house, then go for a dicky bow :)

    Appearently, it's just a case of wear a shirt. I'mm all disappointed now, was looking forward to heading out in a suit, especially since I've just bought the coolest shirt ever in BT2.

    It's kinda funny though, it got me thinking smart dress could mean so much;
    chav smart dress; clean calvin klein boxers (the one's champion sell)
    Poser; uber-expensive D&g, Prada etc
    Joe Soap; somewhere in between depending on wallet size
