Firefox + train time tables

while reading an article on bbc about Apple Macs, I noticed mention of a widget in Tiger (apples new OS) which will check train time tables for you. So that got me thinking, would it be possible to write a plugin for firefox which will get the realtime DART info from www.irishrail.ie? I reckon it would be nice and handy to have something sitting in your browser (much like the weather forcast plugin) which will tell you the next train(s) going in your direction

I have no idea on how to write such a plugin, and nor do I want to write one, so I thought I'd share the idea to see if someone out there fancies having a go.

Of course, if there is something out there that already does this, then post a link and disregard this post ;)

It should be handy enough to write a plugin to do that (in theory). You'd just be parsing the web page for data, somewhat similar to the gmail notifier plugin.

Not gonna do it myself though ;)

Mainline trains maybe or buses. But there would be no point for DARTS as they are too frequent

not for my destination they ain't!
That said, even for destinations which have a frequent service it would be handy for knowing when there are delays.

well I bit the bullet and wrote one myself. It turned out to be very easy in the end. It's nowhere near user friendly, but at least it works! If I ever finish it off, I'll post it here

Try the programming forum. I put up a build environment to help you make plugins easily. You are more likely get questions answered there as well.
